Artist Statement
This self portrait is based on a photo taken of me back in 2008. At the time, I was focused on heating some metal with an oxy-acetylene flame. My goggles date back to the 1970's when I first started working metal with a flame. I have a couple of extra pairs and when people come to visit my studio, I loan them out so that they can safely watch me work. To glance in the room, one would think that they are spying a Star Wars convention.
