Amelia Earhart Pacific Island
Artist Statement
To create this piece, I drew inspiration from feminist icon Amelia Earhart, a noted aviation pioneer and author. During an attempt to circumnavigate the globe, Earhart disappeared over the central Pacific Ocean near Howland Island on July 2, 1937. Many theories emerged after Earhart's disappearance all of which have been dismissed from lack of supporting evidence. Fascination with her life, career and untimely disappearance continues until this day.
