Artist Statement
German composer and pianist Ludwig van Beethoven was my inspiration for this piece. Baptized December 17, 1770, he was a crucial figure in Western classical music and remains one of the most acclaimed and influential composers of all time. His hearing began to deteriorate around 1796 yet he continued to compose, conduct, and perform even after becoming almost completely deaf by 1814. He died on March 26, 1827 during a thunderstorm.
